ANIM3013 - Preproduction

What were my production aims? Create an Animatic based upon a self-written narrative that explores my own visual style, as well as focusing on themes, such as idealism, fear, anxiety among others. Create a broad series of developed Characters, Environments and Prop design that will drive and influence the Animation. Key visuals include 3 main characters, 2 main sets influenced by both western and eastern Cartoon styles, as well as real life and primary sources, to help appeal to the target audience. Complete all production aims within the time set due to coherent  time management and set  schedule Investigate into how Story, Personality and Culture are defined by Visual character design Did I acheive these aims? The short answer yes. For this module I have created an Animatic, that was based upon a self-written screenplay. During the Pre-production phase of my Work. I have created 5 character designs, environment and prop concepts and storyboard and an Animatic. Overall I believe that this has been a very successful project. However, now is as good a time as ever to review the work I have produced. Overall I have found this module to be a rewarding challenge. it helped me expand upon my knowledge of Character design and the production process that goes into creating a successful character design. My overall goal of this module was to create a series of portfolio-worthy characters, as well as an animatic that succeeded any previous animatic I had done before. I wanted to use this module to improve as a designer and Animator, with the intention of becoming industry ready by learning new design techniques and theory, while also improving my knowledge on existing industry software. This is the presentation that was given on the 10th December as a showcase of the work done so far on this module. The Presentations highlights the production aims of my Final Major Project, What Research I have done, my concept work as well as my Animatic. It successfully showcases my aims and how this will relate to future industry practices. Upon the feedback from the previous presentation, as well as feedback from my peers, I have altered certain aims and renegotiated my proposal to create a more coherent and Art focused production, that more effectively conveys my aims, visual style, and projected outcomes. Below are Individual scenes of my Animatic, followed by a compilation of all of them. I did this to cut down on file size while creating the animatic, and also to keep everything more coherent and organised. Once the scenes were created I then compiled them in Premiere Pro, and for an initial test coded them in LQ, to check to pace and to see if there were any other errors that have been made in the production process. I am happy with the way things are shaping. I look forward to seeing the final product. Outsourcing Sound Design: I will be outsourcing the sound design and score of the piece to working professionals. The score will be produced by the Band "Kayleigh", based in Devon, UK. I will be making trips to discuss with the band members about the ideas for the score I have. I have faith that the score will be produced at a high quality.
