Storyboard
Referring to my research and the industry, I wanted to create a Storyboard to help me gauge a feel for my narrative.
Storyboard from "Lilo and Stitch" |
Storyboard from "Lion King" |
I research examples of Storyboards in the Industry and how they are used. From this research, I set myself the following productions aims.
-To create a storyboard with key narrative moments and visuals
-Use it to identify Any narrative errors
-Help create a continuity
-Use as a foundation for the forthcoming animatic.
This is the storyboard of the story i have written. i have considered camera angle to help convey the emotion of a character and or scene. Story boarding helps me identify key issues with a screenplay that may not be visible before the visualisation of a scene. It is also good to help a director and animator to get a feel for the world they are creating. Story boarding is an industry standard, used in all forms of animation production, keeping this practice relevant to possible future work.
Here is a breakdown of the scenes:
-set up the character as she leaves school
-her mother isn't there, must be working late
-Sadness is shown by Robyn (Camera Zooms out to show isolation)
-Walks home
-Arrives home at the same time as the mother
-Has dinner with her mum, before trying to run off to play. Shows relationship with mother.
-Mum pulls her back to do dishes
-Mum and Robyn have a talk about the father figure. Show her idealism and high energy. shows character flaw.
-Robyn goes and plays
-At the end of the day, a sleepy Robyn is tucked into bed by her mother
-Adult Robyn opens her eyes
-Walks around the city until she hears a distress call
-Helps a person in need using powers
-Confronts mysterious character
-Enter antagonist, an embodiment of her fears (Camera angles and POV help convey the sense of dread)
-Robyn attempts to fight the antagonist
-However, she makes a makes a mistake.
-Character hits her lowest moment as she is being beaten
I feel that the aims for my storyboard have been met. it helped me revise my narrative and cut unnecessary areas. It will also be a helpful foundation from which to create my animatic from.
