Research: Set Design and Locations.
For the Animation i will be creating two different sets, the first being the real world that the main character resides in, I want to make the two different sets as varied as possible. So in order to do this, i will give them very different colour palettes, locations and moods. The first Set will be based upon a British Village, the colour palette with consist of very country colours, so browns, blues and greens, the buildings will be old and decaying. The set will be mostly featured during the daytime. The reasoning behind this, is because the main character "cant help but dream big". To help the dream come across as a big ambition, we must first start small, and somewhat generic. While there isn't actually anything wrong with the village in which the main characters lives, there isn't much going on, and while pretty, there is a no sense of progression and no future in this village. Below are a few images and mood boards that hopefully sell the idea of the village, and will give me a starting point when it comes to the design of the village.

The second set will be a stark departure to the previous set. The dream sequence will be set in a Neon, futuristic City, consisting on somewhat Si-Fi elements. The colour palette of the city will consist of purples, dark blues, neon greens, reds, and black and grey. The set piece will be done during the nighttime, so the lights in the city will be creating most of the colours that light the animation. The reasons for creating the city like this are mostly to create a distinct difference between the Real world and the Dream sequence as mentions above. In addition to this, There needs to be stakes to the fights, and people to save, to allow for the main character to have a motivation and maybe even some character development. Below is a mood board that hopefully showcases the mood and feel of the set piece.
